Parents of College Grads: We want to be sure to congratulate your graduate on June 7, so please stop by the Information Desk this morning to give us information on any college graduates from your family so they will be included on our Graduate List. Parents of HS Graduates: please sign up today at the Information Desk if you plan on attending the Graduation Banquet on Sunday June 7th at 12:00 noon in the BFLC.
ALSO please submit photos of your graduate as soon as possible to ensure they are included in the annual High School Graduate Slide Show.

Cookies & brownies are needed for the DHS Baccalaureate, to be held on June 7th at Danville Middle School at 7:00 PM. Donations may be brought to the church by noon on Sunday, June 7th, or taken directly to the service.

Creation Youth Ministry Camping Trip – To help keep costs down for this great ministry opportunity we are asking for donations of some of the following food items: unfrosted cupcakes, muffins, cookies, brownies, barbequed chicken, sandwich barbeque, macaroni and/or potato salad, chips. Please contact Pastor Dawes no later than Wednesday, May 27 for questions or if you are able to help. THANK YOU!

There has been some interest expressed for the start of a community garden here at First Baptist Church. The intent is to donate the produce to our local food banks and any surplus would be divided among the volunteers. If you are interested, please add your name and contact information to the sign up sheet on the bulletin board or write ‘community garden’ on the bulletin connect card.

Reminder ~ All volunteers working with children & youth must complete Mandated Clearances and Training in the next few weeks, so they are processed by July 1. Packets are available on a table in the foyer and in the downstairs chapel hallway. One of the requirements is attending a FBC Safe Church Training Session (Unit 7). With VBS approaching, two dates have been set. Everyone helping with VBS needs to attend one of these meetings. If you aren’t helping with VBS, but have not yet attended this training, you are also invited to attend the training part of the evening. Tuesday, May 26, in the Chapel, 6:30 PMTuesday, June 2, in the Chapel, 6:30 PM. Volunteers under 18 years of age must attend this training also, along with completing a Volunteer application (Unit 1) and providing a picture ID (Unit 6).

Hands-on mission opportunities: Pick up a M & M tube at the Information Desk, fill it with quarters, and return it before June 16th. The money collected will be used to cover the cost of rice, beans, and seeds packed at the GAiN Warehouse. Join the Field Trip to the GAiN Warehouse on June 16 where participants will be packing school supplies, food, used clothing, gospel bead bracelets and medical supplies. The bus will be

leaving the church parking lot at 7 AM and returning at 8 PM. Sign up on the ramp bulletin board.

M & M tubes can be returned anytime before the GAiN team goes to the Warehouse on June 16. Quarters in these tubes will cover the cost of rice, beans, and seeds packed by God’s Girls and all who go along on June 16th. Drop off your filled M & M tubes at the Information Desk or pick up an empty one if you would like to participate. If you are age 7 and older you are invited to go along on the GAiN trip. This is a great activity for families as younger children need to be accompanied by a parent. There is a sign-up on the ramp bulletin board.

The Deaconesses will hold a brief meeting in the Conference Room next week, May 24, from 10:00-10:30 AM.

Online registration for FBC’s “Journey Off the Map” VBS is now available at www.danvillefirstbaptist.org. A free VBS music CD will be available to each family who pre-registers.

A new study is starting on May 27th for all ladies ~ “The Family of Jesus” by Karen Kingsbury. Please sign up at the table in the foyer this morning and pick up a book. The cost of books is $15.00. Babysitting will be provided if reservations are made. Please indicate if you need babysitting when you sign up. This six week study. will be here at FBC from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM through July 1.

The Fella’s Fellowship will meet simultaneously with the Ladies Bible Study May 27 to July 1 at 6:30 PM in the Conference Room across the hall from the church office. We will be studying A Man and His Design, six sessions that explore the basic foundations of authentic manhood and God’s clear design for men.

Ladies — Happy Mother’s Day! In honor and memory of our mothers from Danville First Baptist Church, we are making a contribution to three local Pregnancy Care Centers in our area. This is something we did last year and our moms wanted to do it again. THANKS to all our moms for their loving hearts and for having a heart for moms who need encouragement!

Please PRAY for the 15 people going to SURGE, the Young Adult Conference at Harvey Cedars, next weekend. They leave on Friday and will be joining almost 200 other young adults, representing 14 churches.

GAiN WAREHOUSE TIME AGAIN: Plan on going along to the GAiN Warehouse on Tuesday, June 16th. There you can help pack used clothing, school supplies, seeds, rice & beans, make Gospel bead bracelets, and prepare other humanitarian aid for shipment to those in need around the world. The bus will leave FBC parking lot at 7 AM and return around 8 PM. Snacks and lunch are provided by GAiN. Everyone buys their own dinner. A sign up sheet is posted on the ramp bulletin board.

The Community Play Group is now meeting at Riverside Park on Mondays at 9:30 AM. Moms, dads, and grandparents are invited to come join in the fellowship and fun. Spread the word to any family with young children.

Several community ministries need assistance: Please stop by the ramp bulletin board to see how you can help out The Good Samaritan Mission and the Daku’s ministry, “Christian Counseling Services of Central PA”.

Continue to pray for our nation ~ National Day of Prayer bookmarks & prayer guides are available at the Information Desk this morning.

Just a reminder…We are hoping to have many child worker packets completed by May 31. If you have not picked up your packet, have ANY questions or need assistance completing the units, please contact the office. Remember – per PA state requirements NO adult worker can work with children/youth until this process is complete. Thanks!

Tonight is local mission’s night at 6 PM in the BFLC. Howard Long will share about his ministry at the Buckhorn Truck Stop Chapel.
Aemon Shoff will also share about his plan to provide food here in Danville, using a trailer that can be moved around town. Please bring a dessert to share and come learn about these two ministries close to home.

Spring Business Meeting ~ Wednesday, April 29, at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary. Be sure to come to our quarterly church gathering to be informed on our ministries and finances and to be updated on some of the input gleaned from our recent Mini-Flock Fellowships. One major point of discussion will be about our Sunday morning schedule.

Do we need to adjust our service times to better accomplish our Mission of being “A Community in Christ, Reaching our Community for Christ?
Why or Why not?
What would be the best schedule to accomplish this?

Please be praying for the “unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” in our discussion and plan on attending Wednesday night.

M & M tubes are available for you to take this morning. Each tube holds up to 56 quarters or $14 which will be used to purchase rice, beans and seeds for GAiN Warehouse. A trip to GAiN to help pack these items will be scheduled the week of June 15th. Please return the M & M tubes June 7th & 14th. Please save small soup cans for a future mission’s project. These can be placed in the marked tub in the chapel hallway.

All volunteers who have direct contact with children & youth in our church need to complete the state mandated clearances. Please visit our web-site at www.danvillefirstbaptist.org to find out more information regarding this process. Click on “Resources” and then “Safe Church” where you will see detailed instructions about what you need to do. Also pick up a packet at the table in the foyer for further instructions. Please call the office if you need help completing any of the units. The challenge has been given to all SBS teachers and VBS Workers to complete these steps by the end of May. Please call the office if you have any questions. In addition to the on-line applications, we are encouraging you to attend one of the following sessions regarding safety procedures at First Baptist Church:

Please help fill in our Spring Fling Volunteer Sheet: We still need some volunteers to help out in our booth in downtown Danville on May 2.

Continue to pray for our Haiti team #8. They are ministering this week in Haiti and will return on April 25th. Pray for their protection and ministry during their time in Haiti.

Please check the sign-up sheets in your SBS Class & Ramp bulletin board to see where help is still needed. THANKS for helping in this important outreach event.

A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held in the BFLC tomorrow, April 20, from 1:00-6:00 PM. Please stop by to donate or to volunteer.

A Bible Study Opportunity is available for all ladies. The Yadah Bible Study Group meets in the Conference Room on Mondays from 3:00-4:30. They are starting a new study this week, “The Storm Inside” by Sheila Walsh, and welcome all ages to join them. If you have questions about this study please contact the office.

Softball Season is here ~ Please sign up on the ramp bulletin board if you are interested in playing. Participants must be at least 15 years old to join. The first game is April 27th. A schedule is also posted on the bulletin board.

Something new: A Family Restroom is now available in the main foyer hallway, just past the Ladies Room. Another changing table is located in this restroom for your convenience.

The Spring Business Meeting is April 29th. Officers need to have reports into the office by next Sunday, April 26th.

New security measures have been mandated by the State of PA for all volunteers who come in contact with children/youth through our church’s ministries. You may visit our church web-site (Resources/Safe Church) to find out exactly what is required. Please stop by the table in the foyer this morning to pick up a packet with more information or to set up an appointment if you would like help fulfilling these requirements. The deadline is July 1st, so we are asking that you begin this process right away.In addition to what the State is requiring, we are asking that you attend a training session about safety procedures at First Baptist Church. The following dates have been set for these sessions:

April 26, 9:00 AM/BFLC ~ Volunteer training ~ attend this one if you are not a SBS Teacher or VBS Worker

One of our missionary families, are in need of a new vehicle in the near future. If anyone has a vehicle that could be donated, please contact a member of our mission’s board.

Thank you to all who had part in our celebration services last week. Thanks to those who participated in the dramas, shared their testimonies, led in worship, helped with the Easter Breakfast, and did all the behind the scenes work to help us all celebrate the resurrection of our Lord!

Today is Barnabas Sunday ~ please put canned fruit donations in the basket in the foyer to be delivered to our local food bank.

Those who donated flowers may take them home after the 10:30 service.

Easter Offering: Please use the offering envelopes in the pew racks this morning for your Easter offering. These gifts will be used for the Youth Mission Trips this summer.

“Treasure Quest” Children’s Church will begin meeting next week during the 10:30 AM service . Children will be dismissed from the service during the offering. Kids will enjoy searching for “treasure” in God’s Word through songs, activities & Bible stories. Parents please pick up your immediately after the service, they will not be dismissed, but will be waiting for you in the Youth Room.

College Student Care Packages: If you would like to help send boxes to our college students, please place donations in the box located in the kitchen foyer. Today is the deadline for updated addresses for college students. Parents, please stop by the Information Desk to fill out the necessary information to be sure your child received a box.

Movie Night! The Grace Card will be shown April 11 in the Beveridge Family Life Center at 7:00 PM. No admission fee & free popcorn & drinks! Stop by the Information desk to pick up a bookmark invitation to share with a friend. This movie is for ages 13 and up. A different movie & activities are being planned for younger children.

Special Events are planned for April 19: Mottel Baleston will be speaking in both services explaining the Seder meal, followed by communion. At 6:00 PM we will enjoy a concert with Phil Biega and Saline (Pastor John’s group). A free will offering will be received at the concert.

Volunteers are needed to help in our booth at the Spring Fling on May 2. Sign-up sheets will be passed around in Adult Sunday Bible Classes, or you may sign up on the ramp bulletin board. A pizza training session will be held on April 15th at 5:30.

Community Opportunities: Please check the ramp bulletin board for new ministry opportunities in our community from Wycliffe Associates & Good Samaritan Mission Center.

APRIL 19th SUNDAY: Night of Worship

April 19th: A Night of Worship

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Join us for a worship concert as Saline (led by John Messner) and Phil Biega perform songs of praise and adoration in the FBC sanctuary. The concert is FREE to attend. However, a love offering will be taken to help support the artists.

Saline is known for their high-energy music, and their ability to reach the young and the young at heart. You can hear more from them at www.salinemusic.com

Phil Biega just released his album “Dark to Light” and will be performing songs from the album as well as some familiar worship songs by other artists. Check out his music here.
