VBS MISSION OF THE WEEK: QUEBEC’S CHILDREN! The Missionaries: David and Kristy Kelly have four children and serve at the Sherbrooke campus of Word of Life (Parole de Vie) Bible Institute in French-speaking Quebec. Quebec is known as the “largest unreached 

people group in North America”! They teach Bible classes as well as French to those desiring to serve in the mission field. The Project: Many have grown up not going to church and don’t know who Jesus is. Word of Life organizes summer camps for local children to come to learn about Jesus, hear the gospel message and, of course, have fun. The Numbers: Cost for 1 Child to go to camp: $150.00.

Fishnet This group of amazing ladies meets on Thursdays from 9AM-12 noon at the home of Linda Beyer, 536 Fourteenth St., Riverside. They process large quantities of eyeglasses and sunglasses to be sent all over the world! If you would like to join them, please contact Donna Outt.

 

Active Retired Men in Service Thursdays @ 8:30AM. This great group of guys meets for devotions, prayer time and lots of fellowship! Following their group time, they also help out around the church as well. Come on over!

In Honor of Our Fathers FBC is giving a monetary gift to our prison ministry. This ministry brings the good news of the gospel to prisoners in 3 local facilities. They have seen inmates come to know Christ as their Savior and have performed baptisms as well. 

 

Combined Adult Sunday School Sunday @ 9:15 in the gym – We welcome all Adult classes to join us as we hear from our missionaries, Tom & Annie Dennen with the Jesus Film Project, CRU.  They will be giving an update of how God has been working in their lives and the life of the ministry.

College Age/Young Adult Sunday School in Room 8 (JR Kids) – Led by our DiscipleMakers missionary, Jared Knorr, you will have the chance to learn from God’s Word, discuss relevant topics, and make new friends.

 

 

Promotion Sunday – Sunday, May 28 @ 9:15am – Join us in the sanctuary for a short program as we celebrate the end of the school year! We’ll be presenting Bibles to new 1st graders (current Kindergarteners), devotions to our new 4th graders (current 3rd graders), and acknowledging our 6th & 8th graders move to Middle & High Schools. We’ll also be thanking our teachers for their tireless work throughout the year. New classes will begin on Sunday, June 4th. Adult classes are invited to attend!

 

Special Memorial Opportunities Your donation will benefit the Montour County Veterans Assistance Fund. This fund assists local veterans in our area who have fallen on hard times. There is a special collection box located at the Welcome Desk. FBC will also be placing a wreath during the Memorial Day ceremonies.

Spring Business Meeting Recap At the congregational meeting on May 24th, we began with voting on a new membership at the Deacon’s recommendation. A furnace update was given and it should be arriving this summer. Also discussed was the possibility of installing playgrounds and a pavilion for group use but also for outreach purposes. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Fishnet This group of amazing ladies meets on Thursdays from 9AM-12 noon at the home of Linda Beyer. They process large quantities of eyeglasses and sunglasses to be sent all over the world! If you would like to join them, please call Donna Outt. 

 

Red Cross Blood Drive will be here  Monday, June 5th, in the BFLC (gym) from 12:30-5:30pm. The Red Cross is in need of blood and is taking every precaution to keep everyone safe during their collections.  Register online at redcross.org.

Promotion Sunday May 28 @ 9:15am – Join us in the sanctuary for a short program as we celebrate the end of the school year! We’ll be 

presenting Bibles to new 1st graders (current Kindergarteners), devotions to our new 4th graders (current 3rd graders), and acknowledging our 6th & 8th graders move to Middle & High School. We’ll also be thanking our teachers for their tireless work throughout the year. New classes will begin on Sunday, June 4th. Adult classes are invited to attend! 

 

New Class! Are you a college student looking for a place to grow in your faith and connect with others? Starting next Sunday, May 28th, we are launching a new Sunday School Class for college age and young adults!   The class will be led by our DiscipleMakers missionary, Jared Knorr.  You will have the chance to learn from God’s Word, discuss relevant topics, and make new friends.  The class will temporarily meet in Room 8 right off the corner of the gym.  We hope you will join us and invite your friends!

Scholarship Funds Available The Mission Board will be accepting applications for post-high school education from applicants planning to attend post-graduate training at an academic facility with the intent to pursue ministry or missionary work upon graduation. Applications can be picked up outside the Church Office. Deadline to submit your application is May 15th. For more information regarding the scholarship please contact Gary Lewis.
