Next Sunday is Barnabas Sunday. This month we will be taking food items to the Danville Community Christmas Tree Program. Staple food items, winter clothing, infant supplies or monetary gifts are being accepted at the Danville Ballroom starting Tuesday, December 2. (Tuesdays through Fridays 3-7 Pm and Saurdays 9 Am – 4 Pm)
 
MIdweek Meal: Join us for our Midweek Family Meal on Wednesday, December 2. The menu for this week is spectacular spaghetti, super salad, bountiful bread and delicious desserts. Please sign up  By Monday, November 30 on the ramp bulletin board, in your SBS class, or by calling the office. Suggested donation for meals is $3 per person.$10 per family. If you would like to take a meal to a shut-in there is no charge. Desserts are provided on a voluntary basis. Please bring one to share anytime.

Haiti Opportunity – Next Sunday there will be a display where you may choose a specific item to buy for the children in Haiti.  The mission team that is going to Haiti after Christmas will deliver these gifts.  You may bring these gifts to our Birthday Party for Jesus on December 20. 
 

Poinsettias may be ordered in honor or memory of a loved one.  The suggested donation is $7.00.  If interested, please contact the church office
at 570-275-1511 by December 9.  The poinsettias  may be picked up following the Christmas Eve service.

Christmas is a time of giving! In that spirit, the Sunday School is sponsoring a Tree of Love.  You will find the tree in the kitchen foyer. 
Each foam ornament represents a person and a Christmas gift.  As God leads you, please take an ornament from the tree and return it
with the designated unwrapped gift to the church office by December 13.  Please keep the ornament with the gift so it goes to the right person.

~ Thanksgiving Eve Service   ~

 

Please plan on joining us on
Wednesday, November 25, at 7 PM
for a Family Thanksgiving Eve Service. 
There will not be a Family Dinner or other
mid-week Ministries that evening. 

 Offering envelopes for our Thanksgiving Offering may be found in the pew racks.  The offering this year will be divided evenly between Christmas gifts for our missionary families & the Church Building Fund unless otherwise designated. 
 
A Baptism Service is planned for December 6 at 6 PM in the Sanctuary.  If you are interested in being baptized, please talk to Pastor Dawes.
 
Our music ministries are assembling a small ensemble/orchestra for a few of the Christmas services (and possibly future services).  If you play an orchestra instrument (brass, woodwind, strings, or percussion), please contact our music pastor John Messner by emailing him at pjohn@danvillefirstbaptist.org.  Thank you.

Mission Report:   We welcome missionary Stan Brown to our services today. He will be giving a mission report at 6 PM in the BFLC. Please plan on attending and bring a dessert to share.

CHRISTMAS GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

As you prepare for Christmas, we want to let you know of several opportunities for giving through our church and community
so that you may participate in those you choose.

Our Christmas Offering this year will go toward an audio visual system upgrade to improve our worship services and radio transmission. Offering envelopes for this gift will be available in December.

Soon you will see our Christmas Tree of Love in the kitchen foyer. There will be suggested gifts on ornaments for families in our own church and community. Please let one of the pastors know if you know someone who could use a gift.
 

Many gifts will be needed to take on the Haiti Mission Trip (Dec. 28-July 5). A list of items and drop off spots will be available soon.

 Our November & December food donations are going to help with the community efforts to provide Christmas dinners for people in our community. We will also soon have information regarding the Danville Community Christmas Tree that will collect gifts for people in our community.

In December you will be given the opportunity to purchase poinsettias in memory or honor of a loved one.

TRUNK OR TREAT – A special thank you to the crew of volunteers for all of their hard work. Thanks also to everyone who donated candy. At least 900 people enjoyed Trunk or Treat at our church this past week.

Today is Barnabas Sunday. This month we will be taking food items to “Feed A Friend” to help provide Thanksgiving Dinners for people in Montour County. If you would like to give a monetary gift, please make checks out to “Feed A Friend”.

Volunteers Needed: UPWARD’S second registration/skills drill will be held Friday night, November 6 (6:00-8:00 PM) and Saturday, November 7 (9:30 AM-1:30 PM). There is a job for everyone, and many volunteers are needed. Please call the office if you can help. UPWARD participants may register online, but MUST still attend this skills drill, if they didn’t go to the one in October.

First Baptist Church will be hosting the Jubilee Kitchen on November 21st. Please call  the office if you would like to give a monetary donation, or can provide dessert.

ANNOUNCEMENTS ~ October 25, 2015

Exploring FBC begins this morning.  This class will be offered at 9 AM for three Sundays (October 25, Nov. 1 and Nov. 8).  This is a class for those interested in finding out more about our church, baptism, and/or membership. 

Wednesday, October 28 ~ TRUNK or TREAT ~ 5:30 – 7:30 PM.  There is no Midweek Meal this week!  Instead, please plan on attending TRUNK or TREAT here at FBC!  Hot dogs will be served!

FALL BUSINESS MEETING, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21 ~ 6:30 PM, SPRINGER CHAPEL. All members & non members are encouraged to attend. We will evaluate finances & receive updates from our Boards & the Strategic Planning Committee. 
Fall Business Meeting Proposals: The Deacons and Trustees will be presenting a motion to hire an architect to investigate the feasibility and costs of renovating the Beveridge Family Life Center for use as a worship facility while maintaining it’s capability for it’s current uses. The architect will also prepare options for enhancing our youth facilities. The architectural options, including cost, would be presented to the congregation at a later date. The Strategic Planning Committee is discussing the Sunday morning schedule and is considering an alternative to be reviewed by the
Deacon Board. The Strategic Planning committee is also discussing a proposal for specific training in evangelism and hospitality which will be presented to the Deacons for their review as well.

 The Community Playgroup that has been meeting in the park over the summer is moving inside.  They will be meeting from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM in the BFLC on Mondays.  Parents and grandparents are invited to bring their little ones to enjoy play time with other children.

October 26th.
 

A Health & Wellness Fair will be held in the Beveridge Family Life Center on October 22, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  This is a free event that is open to the public.  Thirty plus health and wellness associated vendors will provide information on a variety of subjects. 

AWANA Food Collection:  During the month of October the AWANA kids are collecting dry & canned cat & dog food that will be given to the
Danville SPCA.  There is a bin located in the Chapel hallway where you can leave your donations. 
 
November 21st is First Baptist’s turn to host the Jubilee Kitchen.  Chef Diane Gelbaugh needs monetary donations and desserts for this meal.  Please call her at 570-275-4880 if you can help.
 

New missionary letters are available this morning in the Chapel Hallway.  Stay informed and pray for our missionaries by reading their letters.

 Power for Living & Weekly Prayer Sheets are available every Sunday.  Pick up prayer sheets at the Usher’s Table at the back of the
Sanctuary, the Information Desk, or the paper rack outside the Sunday School Office. Power for Living are available at the Usher’s
Table and in the paper rack.

Suggested donation for meals is $3 per person/$10 per family. If you know of an elderly or shut-in person and would be willing to deliver a meal to them, it is free of charge. Please put their name on one of the sign-up sheets and indicate “Shut-In”.

Attention Men: Please sign up at the Information Desk if you plan on going to Men’s Retreat on October 23-25 so that car-pooling may be arranged. Brochures are available at the Information Desk with registration details.

GAiN Warehouse Trip: Please sign up on the ramp bulletin board if you are interested in going along to GAiN Warehouse on Friday, October 16. The bus will leave at 7:00 AM and return around 7:30 PM. Lunch & snacks are provided. Dinner will be on your own on the return trip home. Closed toe shoes are required. No sandals or flip-flops, sneakers are fine.

Blankets for refugees needed: If you have new or slightly used blankets (any size) that you would like to donate for the GAiN crew to take with them on Friday, please have bring to the church by Thursday evening.

The Fall Business Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 6:30 PM in the Chapel. There will be an update from the Strategic Planning Committee.   Officers please have reports to the Office by next Sunday, October 18th.

If you can help provide candy, there are donation boxes in the foyer outside the sanctuary, and in the kitchen (along back counter). All candy needs to be individually wrapped. Please avoid small hard candies that may lead to choking issues for small children. A sign up sheet is available in the foyer this morning if you can help by decorating a table (inside) or trunk (outside).

From the library: If you have taken DVD’s or books from the library and are finished with them, please return the items so others may check them out. Our library is open every Sunday morning from 8:45 to 10:30, and again for a short time after the second service. It is also open on Tuesday mornings from 8:45 to 11:15; and Wednesday evenings from 5:45 to 7:30.
 
College Care Ministry: As a church family we want to reach out to our college students. We have an opportunity to show God’s love, show our support and encourage these students. We will be mailing care packages to our students attempting to time them approximately at  the same time as finals. Donations may be placed in the box located in the kitchen foyer. Please see the bulletin insert  or contact the office for a list of items to be included. Monetary donations are also accepted. Please designate “College Ministry” & place in the offering.
Parents of College Students: Please submit your college student’s address if you would like them to receive a care package from FBC. Information must be in the office by October 18.  Thanks for your help!
 

UPWARD Sports is beginning soon. You can register your children on-line. Many opportunities are available to help in this ministry that promotes the discovery of Jesus through sports. Help is needed in the following areas: kitchen, coaching, prayer team, chapel, set up & take down. Please contact the church office at 570-275-1511 if you can help in any way.
