SUMMER HELP NEEDED at WoL, Quebec! Word of Life is looking to fill some volunteer positions for summer camp season at their Quebec campus where our missionaries, David & Kristy Kelly, minister. Room & board with opportunities to participate in camp activities included. Any time June 28-July 27. If interested, contact the church office!
  • Childcare for 1-4 year olds; 4-6 hours/day (14+)
  • Kitchen help (18+)
  • Grounds crew—mowing, weeding, etc. (16+)
 
The Barnabas Basket is a monthly food collection that takes place on the first Sunday of the month (Communion Sunday). All donations are given to the Danville Food Bank. The basket will be located in the main lobby. July’s Need is JELLO & PUDDING.
 
Fishnet This group of amazing ladies meets on Thursdays from 9AM-12 noon at the home of Linda Beyer. They process large quantities of eyeglasses and sunglasses to be sent all over the world! If you would like to join them, please contact Donna Outt.
 
Active Retired Men in Service Thursdays @ 8:30AM. This great group of guys meets for devotions, prayer time and lots of fellowship! Following their group time, they also help out around the church. Come on over!
 
Care & Concern Ministry began in October ‘03 and is a group of some of the biggest hearts around. They make and take meals to those who have had babies, surgery or are going through a tough time. This ministry has lifted the hearts of many as the love of Christ is shared in a practical & much needed way. If you would like to be a part of this, contact the office.

Word of Life Trip Next Week Our team is excited to serve & show God’s love in tangible ways as they work through their list of projects at Word of Life, Canada, supporting our home-grown missionaries Jonathan & Melissa Ward. Right now, we are only a third of the way to our goal. If you feel led to give towards this trip, your support will help us make a meaningful impact to the Wards and the students that attend the Bible School. In Honor of Our Fathers FBC is giving a monetary gift to our prison ministry. This ministry brings the good news of the gospel to prisoners in three local facilities. They have seen inmates come to know Christ as their Savior and have had the opportunity to baptize several inmates.
 
Ladies Grief Group has been put on hold for the summer. The group will resume again in September with the start of our fall ministries.

TODAY @ 9:15am – Join us in the sanctuary for a short program as we celebrate the end of the school year! We’ll be presenting Bibles to new 1st graders (current Kindergarteners), devotionals to our new 4th graders (current 3rd graders), and acknowledging our 6th & 8th graders move to Middle & High School. We’ll also be thanking our teachers for their tireless work throughout the year. Kids will move to their new classes next Sunday, June 1st. Adult classes are invited to attend!

Spring Business Meeting Recap  At the business meeting on Saturday, May 17th, Pastor Dawes gave on update on Honduras. A playground/pavilion update was given and the location approved. The Constitution Revisions were also approved. If you would like to give towards the playground/pavilion project, mark your donations “playground/pavilion project”. This should be above and beyond your normal giving.  For any questions on the project, please see a member of the Trustee Board.

Fight Club Closing – This Friday at 6pm in the Sanctuary You’re invited to join the men and their families as they celebrate what the Lord has done in their lives over the past 10 weeks as they studied the Word, completed challenges and held each other accountable.  There will be singing, testimonies and more.  What a great way to encourage and support the men of our church.  Refreshments to follow in the gym.

Church Business Meeting This Saturday (5/17) @ 9 AM. Goodies & Coffee available at 8:30. All are welcome to attend; however, only members who attend will be able to vote. We will be voting on proposed revisions to the Constitution and discussing various topics of church business. 
 
Special Mother’s Day Offering Today is Mother’s Day and we will be taking a special freewill offering to bless our MomCO group. This would be above and beyond your normal giving. Please designate checks/envelopes with “MomCo”. A gift will also be given to the local area pregnancy centers in honor of Mother’s Day.

SOUND TRAINING OPPORTUNITY Ever wonder what all those knobs and sliders do on the sound board? Now’s your chance to find out! Whether you’re curious, eager to serve, or just love tech, join us for an exciting hands-on Sound Training led by Pastor John on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary. You’ll learn the basics of live sound, get real-time experience mixing, and discover how YOU can play a part in creating an awesome worship environment. This training is open to teens and adults—no prior experience needed! Contact Pastor John, if interested.
 
Special Memorial Opportunities Memorial Sunday, there will be a special collection opportunity that will benefit the Montour County Veterans Assistance Fund. This fund assists local veterans in our area who have fallen on hard times.

Promotion Sunday May 25 @ 9:15am – Join us in the sanctuary for a short program as we celebrate the end of the school year! We’ll be presenting Bibles to new 1st graders (current Kindergarteners), devotions to our new 4th graders (current 3rd graders), and acknowledging our 6th & 8th graders move to Middle & High School. We’ll also be thanking our teachers for their tireless work throughout the year. New classes will begin on Sunday, June 1st. Adult classes are invited to attend!

FBC Connect Class begins Sunday (5/4)! If you are new here and would like to know what we are all about or if you have questions on being baptized or becoming a member, then this is your class! This 3-part class will take place in the Conference Room (across from the church office) during the Sunday School hour (9:15-10:15). If you have any questions, feel free to call the office! 
 
Word of Life Ontario Mission Trip  FBC is sending a team back to WoL, Ontario to help and support our missionaries, Jonathan and Melissa Ward, through work projects, clean up, etc.  Passports and a $100 deposit are required for this trip.  All ages are welcome, but middle school age and younger must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. We would like to see interested high school students provide their own deposit to show a full commitment to doing the Lord’s work at WoL. Applications are available at Mission Wall & are due Sunday, May 4!!
 
The Ladies’ Walking Group will meet at 6:30pm this Thursday in the parking lot to walk around the neighborhood.  This group is for ladies of all ages and walking abilities.

74th Annual National Day of Prayer This Thursday @ 12:00 PM – The service will be held outside the Montour County Courthouse to pray for our nation, its leaders, local schools, service personnel, and more. Rain or shine! Bring a camp chair if you like.
 
Spring Fling This Saturday, May 3 – We want to share our devotion and love for missions with our community, whether that mission is here or abroad. We would love to see a few people from each adult SS class sign up for one hour. Sign up today in the lobby to help at our tent. Great opportunity for ALL ages!

Awana Closing Ceremony Wednesday, April 30 – Pizza @ 5pm, Program @ 6pm – The Awana children have been hard at work all year learning verses and completing assignments as they hide God’s word in their hearts. The Barnabas Basket is our monthly food collection. All donations are given to the Danville Food Bank. The basket is located in the main foyer. May’s Need is SPAGHETTI & SAUCE. They’re looking for volunteers to help distribute food the 2nd Sat. of every month.

Baptism Happening at 10:30am Service Sunday, April 20! Please join us in encouraging several students as they take the plunge in following Jesus’ example. “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” Galatians 3:26-27
 
Special Easter Offering This year’s offering will be split between the Youth Costa Rica Mission Trip and Marvin Robinson (sending kids from Rochester to Word of Life Summer Camp). Please note “Easter Offering” on your donation. Easter giving envelopes can be found in the pews.
